easypeasy one-point-five (or as I would say it: en-komma-fem) is finished, and it finished up real good. We’ve taken our time to iron out bugs and put in new features to again give the netbook community a great linux distribution.

New in easypeasy 1.5
- This makes it possible to move the image to the usb stick with unetbootin or dd etc. Which means it’s now possible to intall from a Mac
- The first distro to deliver real composite desktop which means it’s possible to run 3D in 3D (ie. the netbook interface and desktop effects)
- Ubuntu security upgrades are available to easypeasy users as fast as they’re released, while easypeasy isn’t overwritten by Ubuntu

Will it work on an ASUS 900 with Intel chip ? Not ATOM . Intel . And will the card reader be recognized ? Because Ubuntu won’t recognize it . By the way the website is my You Tube page ! Thanx in advance ^_-

This looks like an interesting project but I’m little confused over the terminology. What is a netbook? (As opposed to a laptop?). Just smaller?
I have a Lenovo laptop with LinuxMint on it at the mo but itr has issues with skype and kompozer.

Great distro, allthough I caught a few speedbumps: Updates are unavailable on norwegian ubuntu repo and ubuntu-x ppa due to fault with key (tried to update key to no avail) And kernel source package can not be installed, (no candidate)
Note the download link is bad. Where do I find the md5? It seems like Distrowatch couldn’t find either as it’s not in their announcement.
What is the major difference between this and Ubuntu Netbook Remix? They both look so similar.
And with the Jaunty Netbook Remix only a few weeks away, is there any compelling reason to use this instead?

Just use it and need linux-source-2.6.30.5-ep0 to make some drivers. Please release the kernel source file. It is a great distro. Good job!

PJ, It’s probably the headers you need to create drivers. sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.30.5-ep0. Please get back to me if I’m wrong
Harry Barracuda, UNR is just Ubuntu with the netbook interface. This distro is tweaked for speed and better hardware support on your netbook.

Thanks for your suggestion. I’d succeed to compile the driver by using the official kernel. It requires modpost.o so header files can not work properly. Anyway, I would upload my driver somewhere. It’s a touch screen device from EETI:)
BTW, I noticed there is a minor bug which might cause eeepc(90x,100x) no sound on both EP1.5 and jaunty.

I can’t find the solution for pulseaudio, so I turned to ALSA and modified /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. It solved the problem temporarily.
Hope it will be fixed someday:D
Do you think 1.5 will resolve “poor wifi connection” -problems related to Ubuntu 8.10/9.04 on EeePC 701 (since some posted fixes suggest that kernel 2.6.30 works fine)? Or do I still have to look for the most suitable wifi-drivers “manually” (some people even suggest only “outdated” madwifi one’s work)? Getting a bit tired…

Just installed easypeasy 1.5 onto my 4g eeepc, and everything works first time, great.
But, when I looked at the live usb I created first and in the Synaptic package manager, there was an section for Amateur Radio, this is not in the installed system. Any was I can add it?
Unfortunately, EP 1.5 is a step backwards.
While the new features are nice, they break essential things like suspend and hibernate.
For example, on my EeePC 900, I have to disable graphics acceleration (UXA) to be able to hibernate.
Another issue (although that was broken in EP 1.1 already, and is originally an Ubuntu problem) is the use of compcache. That interferes with hibernation as well.

I’ve been using Easy Peasy since it’s start, and each new release leaves me even more impressed! 1.5 is running far faster than any previous version, even with Compiz running out of the box.
Now I can use the Compiz zoom feature to zoom in on this tiny text
Using my EeePC 900 right now as a backup, my regular laptop’s hard drive has failed me. Go solid state!
